International Yoga Day: India is the birthplace of Yoga which means uniting the body with consciousness. It is an ancient form of freehand exercise that has recently been popularized in different countries across the world. 

As Yoga was getting known in different parts of the globe, the United Nations declared the 21st of June to be International Yoga Day in 2014. Now, International Yoga Day is being observed each year on the mentioned day. 

Why International Yoga Day is celebrated?

The goal of International Yoga Day is to raise public awareness of the advantages of yoga. The asanas in yoga were created by Indian ancient masters in such a way that they are very helpful for a variety of health concerns.

Yoga is such a technique that helps in treating different health issues because it is concerned with almost every part of the body. It has also been noticed that people who regularly practice this holistic form can stay away from many ailments. So, it can be said that it is the very way to stay fit and healthy even in this world of pollution. 

There are a wide number of benefits that have made Yoga quite popular and famous today.

How is International Yoga Day Celebrated?

So much is the popularity of Yoga today that some of the modern gymnasiums have also started keeping a session of Yoga for those who are interested in it. Each year the day is celebrated by different people in several different ways. 

  • Some organizations and groups conduct Yoga sessions on this particular day where interested people can participate. 
  • Some other people take the responsibility of spreading awareness about the benefits of Yoga across people through different means. 
  • Apart from this, social media platforms are flooded with different pictures, videos, and messages related to Yoga that inspire a good number of people to start with this holistic method of staying fit.
