The Asia Cup, officially known as the ACC Men’s Asia Cup is a men’s international cricket tournament contested between Asian countries in either One Day International format (50 overs) or Twenty20 International cricket format (20 overs). The Asia Cup 2023 was the 16th edition of the men’s Asia Cup. The matches were played as One Day Internationals (ODIs) with Pakistan and Sri Lanka as the official hosts between 30 August to 17 September 2023.

Asia Cup 2023 Format

  • The tournament format and groupings for the upcoming cricket tournament announced on January 9, 2023, have set the stage for an exciting competition. The six participating teams have been divided into two groups of three each. A total of 13 matches will be played throughout the tournament, comprising six league matches, six Super 4 matches, and a final.
  • Group A consists of India, Pakistan, and Nepal. These three teams emerged as champions in the qualifier event, the 2023 ACC Men’s Premier Cup. On the other hand, Group B includes the defending champions, Sri Lanka, along with Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
  • During the league stage, each team in their respective groups will compete against each other. After the completion of the league matches, the top two teams from both Group A and Group B will advance to the Super 4 stage.

Asia Cup 2023 Match List-

  • August 30: Pakistan vs Nepal, Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan

-Pakistan won the match by 238 runs.

  • August 31: Bangladesh vs. Sri Lanka, Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele

– Sri Lanka won the match by 5 wickets.

  • September 2: Pakistan vs. India, Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele

– The match was washed out due to rain.

  • September 3: Bangladesh vs Afghanistan, Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore

– Bangladesh won the match by 89 runs.

  • September 4: India vs Nepal, Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele

– India won the match by 10 wickets.

  • September 5: Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka, Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore

– Sri Lanka won the match by 2 runs.

Super Four-

  • September 6: Bangladesh vs Pakistan, Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore

– Pakistan won the match by 7 wickets.

  • September 9: Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh, R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo

– Sri Lanka won the match by 21 runs.

  • September 10-11: India vs Pakistan, R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo

– India won the match by 228 runs.

  • September 12: Sri Lanka vs India, R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo

– India won the match by 41 runs.

  • September 14: Sri Lanka vs Pakistan, R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo

– Sri Lanka won the match by 2 wickets.

  • September 15: Bangladesh vs India, R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo

– Bangladesh won the match by 6 runs.

Final-

  • September 17: Sri Lanka vs India, R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo

– India won the match by 10 wickets.

  • Most wickets- Matheesha Pathirana, Sri Lanka (11 wickets)
