About TransDisciplinary University

The Institute of TransDisciplinary Health Sciences and Technology (the TransDisciplinary University) is established as an innovation centered University focusing on transdisciplinary studies.

The Law and Policy Programme of the University is currently working in the areas of biodiversity and human rights; trade and conservation; and traditional knowledge and health.

The Programme is headed by its Vice Chancellor, Professor Balakrishna Pisupati who has about three decades of leadership experience in the field of conservation and development with various organisations such as the United Nations on Environment, IUCN, National Biodiversity Authority and Fridtjof Nansen Institute, Norway.

About Internship

Law and Policy Programme of TDU is aiming to bring out a policy paper on the interlinkages of biodiversity and human right to health.

International bodies including the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the World Health Organisation have been studying this interlinkage and have adopted important decisions at various Conference of Parties to CBD, prepared joint reports, constituted Liaison Groups and other relevant documents.

We are offering an internship opportunity to law students to get involved with us in this research.

The internship is aimed at

 Exposing the students to research and practice of international biodiversity law and policy.

 Enhancing transdisciplinary research skills.

 Contributing to the mapping exercise to create a body of knowledge on this topic. Interns are expected to provide the following outputs on completion of their internship.

 A comprehensive literature review on the area of right to health and biodiversity.

 A synthesis report on the research topic focusing on the relevant decisions of Convention on Biological Diversity, reports of international, regional, national and sub-national forums.

 Blog post.

Eligibility

4th and 5th year students of integrated LL.B Programme; 3rd year students of 3 years LL.B

Programme

LL.M students ; PhD scholars

Duration

Internship will be for a minimum period of one month and a maximum period of three months during October 2017- December 2017

Stipend

A fixed honorarium of Rs. 5000 on a monthly basis will be given on satisfactory completion of assigned work.
