First impression, first-day formalities
The office was situated in Janpath. we were made to read the bare act of commission first day and next three days we were given the task to go through POCSO Act, Right to Education Act, Motor Vehicle Act, Juvenile Justice Act.
We also were given to read the recent criminal ordinance and some cases of NCPCR of which we had to prepare a summary. After a week, we accordingly were placed in a different cell. I was placed in the Right to Education cell where I and a few other interns were given various task.
Main tasks
I was given a task to prepare a report on school transportation guidelines in accordance with the honourable Supreme Court and CBSE guidelines. I also had to go through the Motor Vehicle Act and suggest changes that should be incorporated in an act to comply with SC guidelines. We were given tasks in a group of 3-4 people each.
In my team, I had members of my own college so it was easy for me and we handled things in a smooth way. We divided sections and studied accordingly. after going through the act we made some suggestions. Later we were given data of various schools in 9 states collected by NCPCR on grounds of guidelines and we had to prepare a graphical report on it.
We also had to check the data if there was an error or not which was a very lethargic task too but we all managed and submitted our final report to our head within the deadline.
Work environment and people
Our project head was very friendly and always helped us with any problem which we faced. He guided us while preparing the report. Other staff were also supporting. Legal consultants also used to visit us and used to ask how our work was going. The office where we worked was great, air-conditioned.
Best things
The staffs were very helpful and friendly. After the completion of our works, we were allowed to move back home. In just 2 minutes walk from office is Connaught Place.
Apart from that office is situated adjacent to gate no.4 of Janpath metro station hence one can each very easily.
