Current Affairs & Static GK

International Women’s Day is celebrated all over the world on 8th March identifying the achievements of women and how they contribute towards the growth of a country. With the aim to bring gender parity to society by recognizing the rights of a woman, Women’s Day focuses on those women who are deprived of basic human rights. There are many sections of society where women are not even aware of their rights and compromise for what they are told to do. The fight is for all such women who are unaware of their skills and capabilities, compromising with the rules set by the stereotypical norms of this patriarchal society.

History of International Women’s Day

The history of International Women’s Day can be traced back to 1975 when the United Nations officially recognized 8th March to be celebrated as Women’s Day. The first theme was “Celebrating the Past, Planning for the Future.” It was set up with the idea of uplifting women in all sections of society.
