AILET Syllabus – Section-wise BA LLB syllabus

  1. Reasoning – The purpose of this section is to test the logical and analytical skills of the candidate. Questions in this section will be asked from topics like syllogism, blood relations, identifying patterns, logical links and rectifying illogical arguments.
  2. English – The candidate in this section will encounter questions on English Grammar, vocabulary, antonyms, synonyms, choosing the correct words, idioms and phrases and jumble words and sentences. There will also be questions on English comprehension that will be designed to evaluate the candidates’ interpretation and answering capability.
  3. General Knowledge – The question in this section will be derived from areas like Economics, Current affairs, Geography, Civics, History, and General Science.
  4. Legal Aptitude – The purpose of this section is to evaluate a candidate’s ability to research skills, interest in law and problem-solving abilities.
  5. Elementary Mathematics – The candidate in this section will face mathematics questions which will be based on 10th standard’s mathematics syllabus.

Description of AILET Syllabus for PG programme

  1. Law of Torts – In common law jurisdictions, a tort is considered to be an act or omission, but not including breach of contract, which may cause injury or harm to an individual, and may amount to a civil wrong for which court can impose liability.
  2. Jurisprudence – It is the theoretical study of law which is studied to gain a deeper understanding of legal systems, legal reasoning, legal institutions and their role in the society.
  3. Law of Contracts – The laws included in this category deal with agreements between parties, which may be related to some activity, service, or product. Any party who accepts a contract can be forced by law to follow them. There are several types of contracts, and each has a specific term and condition. The law governing these matters are covered by law of contracts.
  4. Criminal Law – It is law which basically deals with crimes. It includes threatening, harmful, or otherwise endangering to the property, health, safety, and moral welfare of people inclusive of one’s self.
  5. Property Law – The set of laws dealt with by Property Law include issues related to ownership and tenancy in real property and personal property, within the common law legal system. In the civil law system, there is a division between movable and immovable property.
  6. Intellectual Property Law – It revolves around the rules for securing and enforcing legal rights to inventions, designs, and artistic works. Just as the law protects ownership of personal property and real estate, it also protects the exclusivity of intangible assets.
  7. Family Law – As the name suggests, laws in this field deal with family matters like marriage, domestic partnership, adoption, paternity, child custody, surrogacy and juvenile laws.
  8. International Law – It deals with a set of law which covers rules, agreements and treaties that are framed for better relations between nations. It serves as a framework for the practice of stable and organized international relations.
