Justice Ranjan Gogoi is the new Chief Justice of India and he is appointed by our Honourable President Ramnath Kovind. Taking the fights with CJI Deepak Mishra, Justice Gogoi will start his tenure as the 46th CJI on October 3, 2018.
CJI Mishra had prescribed senior judge Justice Ranjan Gogoi in the Supreme Court on 4 September, who was in his successor’s office. The proposal was prepared to issue the warrant of arrangement to President Kovind, which was affirmed on Thursday.
Conceived on November 18, 1954, Justice Gogoi was designated as a legal counsellor in 1978. He honed at the High Court of Guwahati on Constitutional, Taxation and Company Affairs. He has delegated a changeless judge of the Gauhati High Court on February 28, 2001. On September 9, 2010, he was exchanged to the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He was designated Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court on February 12, 2011. He was delegated Judge of the Supreme Court of India on April 23, 2012.
