Court on Women Safety

The Delhi High Court on 17th November guided the Delhi Police Commissioner to make a  master plan to tackle the increasing crime rate and incidents against women in the Capital of India.

The direction was given by the Division Bench of Justices S Ravindra Bhat and Sanjeev Sachdeva while hearing an issue on the condition of women’s safety post the Nirbhaya gangrape. The Court had taken suo motu cognizance of the matter of women safety.

  • Advocate Meera Bhatia, who is the amicus curiae in the issue, told the Court that the Police is totally aware of the profiles of guilty parties and is likewise insightful with the sorts of violations/ crimes occurring against ladies. The executive for the Delhi Commission for Women Swati Maliwal separated while advising the Court about late episodes wherein minor young ladies were assaulted. She likewise expressed that on a normal, three ladies are assaulted each day. Showing up for the Center, ASG Sanjay Jain expressed that the before the request of the Court with respect to enrollment in the Delhi Police had been imparted to the Ministries of Home Affairs and Finance for consistency.
  • The Bench watched that nothing concrete has been done over the most recent three years to cut down the rate of violations against ladies.
