Delhi HC Lauded, before the hack of SC website

Hack of SC website- Last week, the official website of the Apex court was crashed with allegations of being hacked surfacing. Initially, several people were posting images of Supreme court website saying “hackeado por HighTech Brazil HackTeam”, explicitly stating the allegations on Brazil Hacking team. Few days back, India’s Defence Ministry website and Home and Law ministry was also hacked, creating a suspicious troubling in light of all these facts.

Following all instances, National Informatics Centre, maintaining all government websites, has further been asked to investigate in the required matter.

Just before the hack, writ petition was submitted, in Delhi High Court, highlighting the issues in regards to the official website of Delhi District Court, stating the problem of not being frequently updated with necessary ongoing court information i.e. cause list, daily orders, cases, judgement,  and information about judges being on leave/training etc.

Stating the petition, filed by Mr, Shailendra Bhatnagar, “hopelessly vague”,  bench, comprising acting chief justice Gita Mittal and justice C. Hari Shankar, did further take up the issue of making information more accessible to lawyers and litigants. Further “scrutinizing” the website of Delhi District Court, in court room, with the help of screen and projector was there.

Mr. Abhilash Malhotra, Metropolitan Magistrate, member of the centralized computerization committee, Website committee of Tis Hazari Court and National Informatics Centre were also called upon. The members explained the futuristic steps which were being taken to ensure the efficient operation of the connecting grid of national judicial data at each and every level.

Court was further explained and informed about the latest software and hardware that has been purchased and that every possible effort for resolving any issues that may plague the existing system.

Satisfied with the response received, the Court then disposed of the Petition, observing, “In view of the above, it appears that all concerned authorities are extremely vigilant about the imperative needs to ensure an effective and responsive interface so that everyone could have access to the court website and retrieve information therefrom.”
