2G Scam Judgement-
A Special CBI Court at Patiala House today cleared DMK government officials A Raja, Kanimozhi and fifteen others embroiled in the 2G Spectrum case. Judge OP Saini had held his decision back in April this year, subsequent to hearing the case, which started in November 2011, for a long time.
According to the CBI’s charges, Raja, who was Telecom Minister amid the UPA administration, made gigantic misfortunes the state exchequer by undercharging telecom firms for recurrence licenses. The Comptroller and Auditor General of India had assessed the aggregate misfortune to be Rs 1.76 trillion.
The other blamed incorporate previous Telecom Secretary Siddharth Behura, Raja’s recent private secretary RK Chandolia, Swan Telecom Pvt Ltd promoters Shahid Usman Balwa and Vinod Goenka, Unitech Ltd overseeing chief D Sanjay Chandra, and three best administrators of Anil Ambani’s Reliance Group – Gautam Doshi, Surendra Pipara and Hari Nair.
Under the steady gaze of the Patiala House court, Senior Advocates RS Cheema and Rebecca John showed up for Sanjay Chandra, while Amarendra Sharan spoke to Kanimozhi. Senior Counsel Amit Desai showed up for Karim Morani; he was advised by a group from Karanjawala and Co-headed by Partner Sandeep Kapur.
Sidharth Luthra showed up for Siddharth Behura, while SV Raju contended for Vinod Goenka. Saurab Soparkar showed up for Reliance Telecom Limited, and Hariharan spoke to Surendra Pipara. Supporters Manu Sharma and Babanjeet Singh spoke to A Raja. Senior Counsel Anand Grover was the Special Public Prosecutor for the situation.
The Supreme Court had, in February 2012, wiped out 122 telecom licenses and range apportioned to nine organizations, holding that the procedure of allotment was defective.
