Press Release of the Valedictory session of the National Trial Advocacy held in Seedling School of Law and Governance, Jaipur National University

27 th October, 2024 Symbiosis Law School, Hyderbad emerged winner of the National Trial Advocacy and Judgment Writing Competition with a cash of Rs 25000 and a trophy followed by Manik Chand Pahade Law College, Aurangabad in the 2 nd National Trial Advocacy and Judgment Writing Competition held in Seedling School of Law and Governance, Jaipur National University, Jaipur on 27 th October, 2024.

Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad emerged winner of the competition with a cash of Rs 25000 and a trophy followed by Manik Chand Pahade Law College, Aurangabad in runner-up position with Rs 15000 and a trophy. While the Best Judgment Award with Rs 5000 and trophy went to JECRC University, Jaipur (Team 1). 1 st Best Memorial Award with Rs 6000 and a trophy went to ICFAI University, Jaipur (Team 1). Best Trial Award with Rs 7000 went to Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad and 2 nd Best Trial Award with Rs 5000 went to Prestige Institute of Management and Research, Indore. Best Student Counsel with Rs 7000 and a trophy went to Mr. Abhishek Mantri of Prestige Institute of Management and Research, Indore and 2 nd Best with Rs 5000 and a trophy went to Ms. Sahanya of Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad. The prize distribution and valedictory function of National Trial Advocacy and Judgment Writing Competition was concluded in the presence of Hon’ble Dr. Justice Kuashal Jayendra Thaker, Gujrat Human Rights Commission (Chief Guest) and Hon’ble Justice K.C. Sharma (Retd., H.C. Judge).

The gathering was addressed by Dr. Justice Kuashal Jayendra Thaker. The Guests in their address characterized the event as an “interesting intellectual exercise” for both him and the participants. Justice Thaker expressed deep delight in being present at the premises of SSLG. During his address, he emphasized three key essentials for succeeding in events and other legal exercises: a comprehensive understanding of the law, knowledge of legal practice, and familiarity with legal policy. He highlighted the significance of being fully aware of these aspects and underscored their relevance to the field of law. Justice K.C. Sharma lauded the quality and standard of arguments presented by the participants, who are poised to become the young leaders of tomorrow. He emphasized that the purpose was to cultivate, enhance, appreciate, honor and reward the trial legal skills amongst our budding lawyers. Dr. Sandeep Bakshi, Chancellor of Jaipur National University, said that legal profession is a gentlemen’s profession. Practical training is essential for a law student in order to develop lawyering skills. Conduct is important for a successful career in legal profession. Young lawyers should strive hard to become good human beings. Dr Bakshi said that the event is to simulate real Trial Courts scenarios, training participants in legal practices and to promote and sustain competitive spirit to ensure the development of advocacy finesse. Prof (Dr) Satish C Shashtri, Director of Seedling School of Law and Governance, Jaipur National University, pointed out that the purpose of the event is to encourage and strengthen students’ advocacy skills through quality competition and valuable interaction with members of the bench and bar. He explained that the event is designed to expose law students to the nature of trial practice and to serve as a supplement to their education. “The intent is to provide a meaningful contribution to the development of future trial lawyers”, Prof Shashtri said.

Of the 40 teams, 8 teams –National Forensic Science University, Gandhinagar, Manik Chand Pahade Law College, Aurangabad, ICFAI University, Jaipur, Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad (Team 1), Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad (Team 2), Symbiosis Law School Pune, Lloyd Law College, New Delhi and Prestige Institute of Management and Research, Indore, entered the Quarter finals. Of them, 4 teams – Prestige Institute of Management and Research, Indore, National Forensic Science University, Gandhinagar, Manik Chand Pahade Law College, Aurangabad and Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad entered the semi-finals.
