About the Competition
The IDIA-S&A Law Offices Memorial Drafting Competition 2024, organized by the Jharkhand Chapter of IDIA and in collaboration with S&A Law Offices, offers a unique opportunity for law students to engage in critical legal analysis and advocacy. The competition not only provides a platform for honing drafting skills but also supports a noble cause, as the funds raised will contribute to the IDIA Charitable Trust’s efforts in empowering underprivileged students to pursue legal education. Additionally, participants stand to win exciting cash prizes and internship opportunities.About the Organization
IDIA (Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access to Legal Education) is a student-run non-profit organization, founded by the late Prof. (Dr.) Shamnad Basheer in 2010. Its mission is to empower underprivileged children through access to legal education, transforming them into lawyers and community leaders. The Jharkhand chapter, led by NUSRL Ranchi students, plays an active role in conducting training for law entrance exams, fundraising, and social outreach across Jharkhand. S&A Law Offices is one of India’s leading full-service law firms, excelling in diverse practice areas such as litigation, corporate law, intellectual property, and commercial transactions. Known for delivering world-class legal solutions, S&A caters to both domestic businesses and multinational corporations, with a focus on providing efficient and practical legal advice.Eligibility
The competition is open to all students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in law (three-year LL.B. or five-year integrated LL.B.) or a postgraduate course from any institution recognized by the Bar Council of India. Participants can compete individually or as part of a two-member team, and cross-institutional teams are allowed.Important Dates
- Release of proposition and start of registration: 17th October 2024
- Early-bird registration deadline: 25th October 2024
- Regular registration deadline: 20th November 2024
- Clarification deadline: 23rd November 2024
- Publication of clarifications: 25th November 2024
- Memorial submission deadline: 15th December 2024
- Results announcement: 24th December 2024
Prizes
Participants have a chance to win exciting prizes:- Winner: INR 8,000 and an internship with S&A Law Offices
- First Runner-Up: INR 5,000
- Certificates of Merit: Awarded to the Top 5 teams
Registration Process
- Early-bird registration fee: INR 500 (until 25th October 2024)
- Regular registration fee: INR 600
- The last date for registration is 20th November 2024, and no late registrations will be accepted.
Submission Process
