The Supreme Court in a reservation law case, issued notice on Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)’s plea challenging Patna High Court’s decision to quash the Bihar law to increase reservation for Backward Classes, Extremely Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/STs) in the State from 50 per cent to 65 percent in public employment and educational institutions [Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) v State of Bihar and Ors].
A Bench of Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra tagged RJD’s plea with the pending appeal of Bihar government. “Issue notice and tag with pending plea,” the Court ordered.
