About the Organisation
The firm traces its origin from Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co. (AMSS) which were then separated into two as Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas and Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas. The firm has its key business centres in– Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Chennai.

Application Process
If the student is applying without any reference then they should make sure that they are at least in their 6th semester (3rd year) and should apply well in advance for about 3-4 months prior to the preferred time period for interning.
Since I applied with a reference from someone so that could a be a reason that I got an early reply, the very next day from them via mail where they asked for my preferred time period for the same and all the confirmation tasks were completed within 2-3 days.
The interns were instructed to carry 2 passport size photos and a cancelled cheque along with them on the first day. Some interns were also mailed the non-disclosure form that was mandatory to be filled all and the others who did not receive it was provided with the form on the very first day.
First Day Formalities Initial Impressions
The first day all the interns were supposed to reach the premises at 10:00 am where all of us (the other interns) were supposed to gather in the conference room where we waited for a bit and then had an induction program with the HR. We were briefed about the history of the organisation, the working conditions, the expected attire, timings etc.
We were also given the non-disclosure form in case one didn’t fill it before as it was mandatory to be filled by all the interns. After a little introduction with HR where we were asked about our preferential departments and they checked if they were any vacancy for interns and then we were allotted our teams.
We were supposed to submit the cancelled cheque that we were expected to get and the non-disclosure form to the HR and then we were taken for a tour around the office and then were introduced with our teams as well.
Main Tasks
The main tasks that interns in all the teams did was research, so one must be really thorough with the research skills and should know how to operate various databases. Though the associates were all very good and friendly and ready to help all the time but it would still be better to know the basics. I was allotted a bit of drafting and documentation work also.
Good Things
All the partners and associates were really helpful and friendly and at the same time maintained the professional boundaries too. The ambience was really good and the work conditions were spectacular. There was a cafeteria in each wing where one could go and have lunch, coffee and take a break and relax.
Bad Things
Though the official timings were from 9:00 am -6:00 pm but hardly anyone followed it. The timings got really exhaustive as one was expected to stay till late or at least till the associate doesn’t tell us to go which barely happened before 8:00 pm.
Stipend
Rs 3,000 per week.
Accommodation Commute
The organisation does not provide any source to commute, one needs to arrange on one’s own except when it gets really late i.e. beyond 10:00 pm because of a meeting or conference only. In this case, also one is not provided with any transport to commute but rather the fare is paid later after going through certain formalities.
