We will be discussing the eligibility, syllabus and other relevant information regarding the Haryana Judicial Service.

Eligibility of Haryana Judicial Service

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • The candidate must have acquired a law degree from a recognized institute or university.
  • Age limit- 22 to 35 years.
  • Practising advocate or eligible to be admitted as an advocate under Advocates Act 1961.

Pay Scale-

Rs. 27,700-44,700/- with usual dearness allowance and other allowances as sanctioned by the government.

Patterns & Syllabus of Haryana Judicial Service

The examination process typically occurs in 3phases-

  1. Preliminary
  2. Mains
  3. Interview

Preliminary Examination

It will comprise of MCQ from the Acts mentioned in the Mains syllabus and will be 125 questions, each question carrying 4 marks. There will be 1/5th negative marking also. Questions will be asked on current affairs and Indian legal; history and constitutional developments also.

  • Specific Relief Act
  • Indian Evidence Act
  • Punjab Courts Act
  • Haryana Urban (Control of Rent & Eviction) Act, 1973
Paper 2

Civil 2- 200 Marks

  • Hindu Law
  • Muslim Law
  • Law of Limitation
  • Law of Registration
Paper 3

Criminal- 200 Marks

  • Indian Evidence Act
  • Indian Penal Code
  • Criminal Procedure Code
Paper 4

English- 200 Marks

  • Essay 100 Marks
  • Precis writing 25 Marks
  • Comprehension 25 Marks
  • Corrections 25 Marks
  • Words & Phrases 25 Marks
Paper 5

Language Hindi- 100 Marks

  • Translation of English passage into Hindi- 20 Marks
  • Explanation of Hindi passage in prose and poetry in the same language- 30 Marks
  • Hindi Essay, Idioms and Corrections- 50 Marks

Interview/ Viva-Voce

The purpose of personal interview is to judge the personal qualities of the candidates. It will be conducted in English.
